Karen (Hrivnak) Sprankle

            SPRANKLE – Karen, born May 8, 1961, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, whose life was defined by compassion, strength, and an unwavering love for others. She was a devoted mother, a proud psychiatric nurse, and a guiding light to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

            Karen was the beloved mother of Katie, Emily (Jasmine), Candice (Josh), and Curt (Art), and she took immense pride in her family. She was a loving grandmother to Damek, Haley, Alivia, and Andrew, each of whom brought her great joy. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen, and her cherished dog, Dottie, who was a constant and loyal companion.

            Karen shared an especially deep and beautiful bond with her grandson, Damek. They spent countless hours together, creating memories filled with love, laughter, and quiet moments that meant everything to them both. She adored him beyond words and took great pride in watching him grow. Their connection was one of the true joys of her life, and that love will live on in his heart forever. Karen was also blessed with a special relationship with Jasmine, her beloved bonus daughter and daughter-in-law. Jasmine cared for her with incredible love, devotion, and compassion, and the two shared a deep and genuine bond. They loved each other dearly, and Karen was profoundly grateful for the comfort, kindness, and care Jasmine gave her.

            Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Carlus Sprankle, whom she loved deeply and whose memory she carried with her always.

            A psychiatric nurse by profession and a caregiver by nature, Karen dedicated her life to helping others. She was known for being non-judgmental, honest, and deeply compassionate. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued, no matter their struggles. Karen also had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh, loved to make others laugh, and could brighten even the hardest days with her wit, warmth, and perfectly timed jokes. She truly illuminated every room she entered with her light, her laughter, and her genuine love for others.

            Her kindness, strength, and generous spirit will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and joy that will never be forgotten.

            Friends will be received on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Karen to the family.
