GORCZYCKI - Kathryn Louise (Makar) “Kay", 96; of Johnstown passed away peacefully at home alongside loved ones on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Born to John and Mary (Corda) Makar on June 13, 1927, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Henry S. Gorczycki, her parents, and sisters Sophie Forish, Ann Makar, and Helen Graham. Kay is survived and loved deeply by her seven children and their spouses: Rosemarie (William/Mic) Midderhoff; Christopher (Arlene) Gorczycki; Louise (Robert) Martin; Joan (Joseph) Polantz; Kathy (Walter) Caper; Henry J. Gorczycki; and Janette (James) Mellett. Beloved grandmother of Alicia Forte; Jonathan Martin (Lea McCauley); Katelyn Polantz (Jared Soares); Andrew Martin (Marlena Weiss); and Kathryn Mellett; and great-grandma of Ryan Forte and Beatrix. Kay also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends including niece Jeannie Cooper, Marilyn Yeager, Rose Karmanocky, DeeDee & Nancy Chirillo, Dory Sellers, Sue Salem Gaeta, and long-time family friend Fr. Bernie Karmanocky. Kay was a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her faith and family were always the focus in her life. She had boundless energy, love, talents and time to always lend a hand to family and friends whenever and wherever needed. Kay was a long-standing member of St. Therese Catholic Church for over 75 years. She was retired from the bakery in Riverside Markets. Friends and family are welcome at a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 17th, at noon. St. Therese Catholic Church; 536 Decker Ave. Johnstown, PA 15906; the Rev. Fr.
