Magda H. Helmers

HELMERS - Magda H., 91; Johnstown, PA; formerly of Summit, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2020 at the Lutheran Home.  Born August 30, 1928 in Hamburg, Germany. Daughter of the late Frederick and Frieda (Kreider) Koch. Preceded in death by parents, former husband, Carlheinz A. Helmers; and daughter, Heidi Helmers.  Survived by son, Rev. Hans-Peter Helmers and wife Jane, Johnstown; grandchildren, Sarah McCann and husband, Steven; Joanna Altimore and husband, Darren; and John Helmers and wife, Joni; and 7 great grandchildren.  Also survived by niece, Anke Roe of Netcong, NJ.   Magda immigrated to the United States, from Germany, in 1955.  She was a seamstress. A lifelong and very active member of  Bayern Verein Newark and Deutscher Club of Clark.  Funeral services and burial will be held in New Jersey at a later time.  The family would like to thank the staff of the Allegheny Lutheran Home, for their many blessings and care of Magda throughout her stay.  Donations may be made to the Allegheny Lutheran Home of Johnstown in memory of Magda Helmers.
