Marie M. Shander

SHANDER - Marie M., 96 of Johnstown, passed away on October 31, 2024.  Born January 9, 1928 in Johnstown, daughter of Charles S. and Anna A. (Surgenic) Pavlosky.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, Joseph Shander; daughters, Cathie Brouse and her husband, David and JeanAnn Havrilla; and brothers, Stephen, Carl, Joseph, Robert and Edward Pavlosky.  She is survived by loving son, John J. Shander married to the former Jean Buday of Johnstown; grandchildren, John Shander Jr. (Shannon), Jackie Staller (Joe), Stephen Shander (Kelsey), Chris Havrilla (Kim), Justin Havrilla (Trish); 12 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Dukery and AnnaMae Mettrick; and son-in-law, David Havrilla. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  Marie was a retired cook for the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.  She was a Foster Grandparent, member of C.W.V. Post 954, West End Lions, West Taylor VFC Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Franciscan Friars OFM Conv. Committal will follow at St. Francis Church Cemetery.  Friends received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street.
