LUTHER — Mary E., 96, of Brownstown, died peacefully at home May 11, 2020. Born August 11, 1923, in Johnstown Mary’s father was John Martin Luther, born in Johnstown, son of Mathias Luther and Amelia (Neupauer) from Krompachy, Slovakia. Mary’s mother was Mary (Zborofsky) Luther, born in Krompachy, Slovakia, daughter of Amelia (Putanko) and John Zborovszky. Mary, also known as Mecky, Marchie or Merika, was the last of six siblings: Daniel Luther, John Luther Jr., Margaret Kukoly, Andrew Luther, and Erma Gresh. Mary Luther was more interested in education and science than many young women of her generation. She spent most of her life working in Pittsburgh hospitals doing lab work. She specialized in identifying cancer cells. Mary never married. She has several generations of surviving nieces and nephews who think the world of her. Because of the Covid virus funeral arrangements will be closed. The Family hopes to do something more at another time. The family is being served by the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc.
