SAX - Mary Catherine, 84; resident of Belmont, passed away April 1, 2025, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born March 6, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of William Joseph Ley and Mary Alice Martin. Preceded in death by parents, brother William Ley, husband Fredrick Sax, and daughter, Deborah Sax-Kaufman. Survived by loving daughter, Theresa Sax, Trafford, PA; son, Daniel (Beata) Sax, Warsaw, Poland; and granddaughters, Zofia and Lena Sax. Also survived by loving sisters Barbara Crowe and Margaret (David) Brust, both residing in Florida, several nieces and nephews: Lisa, Karen, David, Jennifer and Michael, and numerous special relatives, neighbors, and friends. Mary Kay, as she was known, was throughout her life an avid volunteer (Mercy Hospital, Junior Miss, JHS Band Boosters, Gabriel Project), a tender child-care specialist, a beloved grandmother, an international traveller, a longstanding Avon representative, and an active member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church community (where her flea market organization skills remain legendary). A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., by Very Rev. Matthew B. Baum. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Mary to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
