WISZ – Mary Placida, 95, of Ruckersville, VA, formerly of Johnstown, died March 30, 2019, at the Laurels of Charlottesville, VA where she resided since June 2018. Born in Johnstown, October 3, 1923, daughter of Michael and Veronica (Varmecky) Korchnak. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Raymond E. Wisz; sister and brother-in-law, Veronica and John F. Mikula; and son-in-law, John B. Wojnarowski. Survived by daughters, Celine M. Wojnarowski; and Placida Bolinger, GA; granddaughter, Christine, (Bolinger) wife of Warren Everett IV; and grandson, Dr. Martin Bolinger, wife Meghan (Janisko); five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and their families; and many cousins and friends. An honor graduate of Johnstown High School, class of 1941. Member of Court of Our Lady #647 Catholic Daughters of the Americas for over 50 years. Former treasurer of St. Mary’s Lodge Branch 5, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. Life member of the Men’s Jednota and St. Anne’s Society of St. John Gualbert Co-Cathedral. Lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, now Resurrection Parish, where Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Fr. George Gulash. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc. 710 Broad St. Committal Grandview Cemetery.
