Obituary

Yerty - Mary L., 84, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.  Born March 31, 1938 in Somerset the daughter of Sam and Dorothy (Horner) Freeman.  Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda Yerty; and aunt, Arlene Gilkey.  Survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Cordell Yerty; daughter Debbie Geisel; granddaughters: Missy and Sara Spaugy; Kalynn Kerekes; and Tracey Jeske; great-grandchildren: Lexi and Kylee Rogers; Jordan Hoyt; and Landon Jeske; son-in-law, Jeffrey Spaugy; sister Sandi Esposito; brother Larry and Sue Freeman; sisters-in-law Sonja Maloy and Audrey Pheifer; brother-in-law Sheldon and Gail Yerty; and numerous cherished friends and grandpuppy.  Prior to retirement she was a secretary with Dr. Wint for most of her career. Mary was a devout Christian woman who taught Sunday school, led the Good News Program and was a Girl Scout leader.  Mary lived a happy and fulfilling life.  She was the matriarch of a close family unit.  She lived for her family and enjoyed everyone's accomplishments.  Her smile and laughter could light up any room and never failed to put others before herself.  Mary was an exceptional baker and cook, often "spoiling" everyone.  Mary was "Gram" to everyone! She will forever be loved and missed by those she leaves behind.  Her family knows she is in Heaven with her parents, daughter and aunt most likely baking pies for Jesus, keeping tabs on all of us from above.  Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday. Interment at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
