Melvin H. Brinkman, Jr.

BRINKMAN – Melvin H, Jr, 71 of Johnstown was born August 31, 1949, in Wheeling, WV.  After a courageous battle with many health issues, Melvin Harold Brinkman, Jr. slipped quietly into the loving arms of Jesus on December 30, 2020. Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Grace (Potts) Brinkman and his maternal and paternal grandparents.  Mel leaves behind his loving wife, Darlene (Locher) and his step-children: Sean Farkas, Robert Gawel, Jr. (Tammy), and Stacey Hill (Bill) whom he dearly loved. He also has 5 beautiful step-grandchildren, Haley (Dan), William “Trey”, Austin, Abigail, and Madison, a precious great–granddaughter, Hannah and many other loving relatives.  Mel attended the University of Pittsburgh earning degrees in both math and engineering.  He last worked for Met Ed in the Reading area.  Mel enriched our lives with his wisdom, advice, and guidance.  He was looking forward to being united with his precious dogs Lil Rascal and Scruffy who provided him with much companionship and love. His new little dog, Dewey, was just getting to know him. Although we will miss Mel so much we are grateful that God allowed us to be part of his life. May God grant him peace free from the pain and suffering of this world. He will live on in our hearts forever.  Friends will be received Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will take place at the Fishertown Cemetery.
