Michael E. Savering

SAVERING – Michael E., “Foxie” “PA”, passed away at Presbyterian Hospital on Friday, July 26, 2024, with his loving wife Mary Ann (Horbal) by his side. Michaels passing ends a 36-year union with his wife, best friend, and soulmate. Born March 28, 1951, in Johnstown, Son of the late Fred and Dorothy (Kedzuch) Savering. Preceded in death by parents; brother-in-law, Randy “Boots” Horbal; and sister-in-law, Patti (Johnson) Horbal. Survived by Brothers-in-law Steven (Woobie), Gregory, George, and Marianne (Migut) of Johnstown; Barry of Fairbanks, Alaska; sisters-in-law, Andrea, Debra Costlow (Gary) of Johnstown, and Jacqueline Waltos (Raymond “Hap”) of Ogletown; nieces, Rebecca (Horbal) Dunham (Zach) of Pittsburgh, Rachel Costlow and Dan of Stephenson, VA; nephew, Tyler Costlow of Clarion, PA; and cousins, Spud and Evette (Liptak) Spodienok, Tom and Pat (Mekis) Sukenik, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by son, Andrew married to Erica (Davis); grandchildren, Ian, Emma, Kassidy; grandson, AJ married to Emily (Strouse); and great-grandchild, Jackson, and Lainey Mae. Foxie was strong willed and gave a strong battle, but the Lord said it was time. Foxie was a 1970 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. He was then drafted into the Army where he was an Armor Crewman. Foxie was a proud veteran and equally as proud of his grandson AJ for his service to his country. After the Army Foxie went on to become a crane operator and then a forklift operator for North American Hoganas where he later retired from. He was a member at many local clubs in Johnstown. Foxie loved cars, music, dancing in his earlier days with Mary Ann to local bands, the Steelers, IC Light, and pizza. Most of all Foxie loved his Lord God when he was still able, he would recite the Our Father with Mary Ann. His quick-witted humor will be sadly missed. Mary Ann would like to thank Dr. Bradley Gross who gave her some more time with her love, the Neurosurgery team, and the staff of the NICU 5F (Foxtrot) for their hard work and compassion. Friends will be received Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., where Panachida will he held at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Service will be held at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 10:00 A.M., The Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak. Committal will follow at Christ the Saviour Cemetery.
