Regis H. Bender

BENDER - Regis H., 77; Johnstown, PA; died August 22, 2023.  Born April 26, 1946 in Johnstown, son of Harry Bender and Catherine (Link) Reik-Bender.  Preceded in death by his parents; brother Martin Bender; and son, Regis Bender Jr..  Survived by loving wife, of 56 years, Carol (Intihar) Bender of Johnstown; daughters, Marie Mickowski and husband Marc, of Mountain Top, PA; and Theresa Elliott of Lima, OH; grandchildren, Thomas (Courtney), Kelli Mazonkey (Devon), Matthew; Curtis (Carrie), Michael (fiancée Tosha), Daniel and Charles; and seven great grandchildren.  A brother of Richard Bender (Nancy) of Johnstown.  Regis was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Retired employee for Bethlehem Steel Corp. and Johnstown Wire Technology.  Retired financial secretary for United Steelworkers Local 2634 and 2635.  A Fourth Degree member of the Knight’s of Columbus All Saint’s Assembly 954.  He was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church and their Holy Name Society, Usher’s Club, Eucharistic Minister, Pierogi and Festival worker and janitor. Friends received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, the Rev. Bernard Karmanocky O.F.M.  The family requests no flowers, however you may make donation in Regis’ name to St. Therese Church or to the charity of your choice.
