Rene M. Vavrek

VAVREK – Rene M., 68, of Johnstown, died November 2, 2024, at UPMC Hospital in Shadyside. Born May 2, 1956, in Johnstown, daughter of Martin and Marion (Goetz) Vavrek. Preceded in death by parents, and son, Brian M. Smith. Survived by sisters, Carol (Joseph) LaRocca, Judith (Ronald) Sasarak, Elaine (Gregory) LaRocca, and Missy Vavrek; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rene was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. Rene later retired as a Clerk from Greater Johnstown School District. She was an avid reader and a lifelong member at St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Funeral mass will take place at 10 A.M. Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Rene to a charity of your choice.
