Rev. William G. Ward

WARD - Rev. William G., 70; Johnstown, passed away on May 14, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital.  Born July 5, 1952 in Baltimore, MD, son of Guy and Dorothy (Salonish) Ward.  Preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Timothy and Nicholas Ward.  Survived by loving wife, of 47 years, Patricia A. (Martinovich) Ward; and children, Christian married to Codi (Krouse), of Robinson, PA; Jeremiah married to Amanda (Katrancha), of Salix, PA; Gabrielle and boyfriend Brendan Berkey, of Johnstown; and Jonathan married to Molly (Ash), of Greensburg, PA.  Also survived by grandchildren, Cade Krouse and girlfriend, Sheila James; Ceda Krouse-Ward; Caly Ward; Colt Ward and Henry Ward.  A brother of Jeffery Ward married to Vicki, of Meyersdale; and numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces.  Also survived by beloved best-friend, "Cinnamon ".  William was a retired Orthodox Priest serving many communities. He was a seminary student at Christ the Saviour Class of 1976 and was Ordained August 2, 1976.  He served the following churches: 1976-1978 St. Mary’s Orthodox Church  in Buffalo, NY; 1978-1981 St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Jennerstown, PA;  1980-1981 Epiphany of Our Lord Orthodox Church in Huntingdon, PA;  1981-1984 St. Mary’s Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Bayonne, NJ; 1984-1986 St. George Ukrainian Church in Minersville, PA; 1986-2000 SS Peter & Paul Orthodox and St. George Orthodox Churches in Johnstown, PA ; and retiring in 2001.  He was also retired and most senior case worker for Children and Youth Services from 1992 to 2010 and was an Insurance Representative for MetLife.  Rev. William had a gift of reaching out and helping those who may not be able to seek or ask for help themselves.  He was dedicated and caring throughout his life of service to community.  Family was his life, whether it was his wife, children, grandchildren; or his church family; those whom he worked or cared for at C.Y.S. and his co-workers.  He loved the outdoors, including fishing and hunting, and enjoyed many sports and hobbies with his children and family.  Friends received Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Cathedral, 300 Garfield Street where Funeral Liturgy will be held 9:00 a.m. Thursday, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Frank P. Miloro and Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert A. Buczak, co-celebrants; along with local and visiting priests.  Interment will follow at Christ the Saviour Cemetery.  Parastas will be held 7:00 p.m.Wednesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for charities of their choosing.
