Richard W. Kelsey

KELSEY- Richard W., 85, of Johnstown, PA died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 5, 2023. Richard was born April 1, 1938, in Winsted, CT, to Stanley and Irene (Hotchkiss) Kelsey. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth J. (Polacek) Kelsey; brother, Neil R. (Elizabeth M.) Kelsey; four children, Thomas (Patricia), William (Mindy), Kenneth (Alicia) and Catherine (Brian) Cavanaugh; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. After Highschool, he enlisted in the US Navy where he met his future wife. He served from 1956-1960. Friends will be received Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM, Monday October 9, 2023, at St. Gregory and Barnabas Catholic Church. Committal will take place at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery with military honors by Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marie Corp League. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to SS. Gregory and Barnabas Parish, Johnstown, PA.
