WASHABAUGH – Richard D., 84, of Johnstown, died July 11, 2024, at Casselman Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born September 30, 1939, in Bedford. He was the son of William and Jennie (Lonsinger) Washabaugh. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Linda Washabaugh; daughters, Yvonne Palmer and Donna Washabaugh; brothers, Donald, Robert, William, and Ronald Washabaugh; sister, Genevieve Wills; brother-in-laws, Edgar R. Lamison, Edward Wills, George Lester, Earl McDannell, and Charles Kist; and sister-in-law, Shirley Barton. Survived by children: Johnette (Scott) Owens; Angela McLeod; and Wesley (Natasha) Washabaugh, Dean (Lori) Washabaugh, and Shawn Washabaugh; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis Washabaugh and fiancé Donna; sisters, Janet Lamison, Patricia Lester, Nancy McDannell, Karen (John) Feathers, and Virginia Kist; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Jack Murray. Richard spent the early years of his life serving his country with the United States Navy. He later retired from the Navy after 26 years of service as a Hull Maintenance Technician Chief Petty Officer. Richard served his country during the Vietman War, and his career in the Navy guided him to many countries around the world. He was a member of the local VFW Post 4200 in Tire Hill and VFW Post 155 in Richland. Richard enjoyed fishing, golfing, and metal detecting. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will truly be missed by many.
