Richard John Yuhas

YUHAS – Richard John, 83, of Johnstown, passed away July 3, 2025, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born February 11, 1942, in Johnstown, the son of Emery and Elizabeth (Ferpas) Yuhas. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother, James; brothers, Robert Yuhas and Ronald Yuhas; sisters, Louise Yuhas and Betty Jane Gojmerac; brother and sisters-in-law. Richard was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by his loving wife, Mildred (La Porte) Yuhas; children, James Yuhas married to Karen, Tammy Helsel married to Brian, and Ryan Yuhas married to Rebecca; grandchildren, Justin Kapcsos, Taylor Yuhas, Cody Helsel (Haley Blough), Sydney Helsel, and Brendan Yuhas; great-granddaughter, Layla Helsel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard loved gardening and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to car races with his son. Richard loved animals and was known for never turning away a stray; even the beloved neighborhood deer that often paid him a visit. Richard was a member at St. Michael Catholic Church is Brownstown. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will truly be missed by many.  Friends will be received Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Very Rev. Mark S. Begly, VF.
