MICKLOS - Robert “Booby” James, age 95, was called Home on July 18, 2025. Born on December 27, 1929, in Johnstown, he was the beloved son of Mary and Emil Voytko. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Bernard, John, James, Richard, and Mary Louise, and his dear sister-in-law, Audrey. As the last surviving member of his immediate family, Booby will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted caregivers, Mariah and Tessa Weeks, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Booby graduated from Johnstown Catholic High School, where he was a passionate sports enthusiast, participating in baseball, basketball, and football. His love for sports continued throughout his life, as he mentored and coached countless young men in the Johnstown Junior Baseball League, often alongside his brother Bernard. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and family and was a proud supporter of his nieces’ and nephews’ athletic pursuits, cheering them on with enthusiasm and offering steadfast support and encouragement. Booby retired from Bethlehem Steel Mill, where he worked as a skilled carpenter. Even after retirement, he continued to share his talents by building furniture for family members—creations that remain cherished by those who received them. A man of deep and enduring faith, Booby was a devoted member of Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish. His spiritual life was anchored in a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, exemplified by his daily recitation of the Rosary. He lived his faith with humility and grace, known for his peaceful demeanor, gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness. Though he never married, Booby was a father figure to many in his family—offering guidance, support, wisdom, and unconditional love. He took pride in being a giver and valued meaningful relationships with everyone he met. Friends received on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Resurrection Parish Church, committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery. He will be remembered most for his funny stories, spirited songs, and unmistakable, infectious laugh…and in the words of one of his favorite songs: “Unforgettable, In every way, And forevermore, That’s how you’ll stay….”.
