Robert G. Weinzierl

WEINZIERL - Robert G. 95; Edgewood, passed away June 29, 2018 at Windber Hospice.  Born February 19, 1923 in Johnstown, son of Isadore and Marie (Sellman) Weinzierl.  Preceded in death by parents; loving wife of 67 years, Mary C. (Boes) Weinzierl; brothers, William, Arthur, Joseph,  James and Lester Weinzierl; and sister, Mary Ann Findley.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and is survived by children: Robert, married to Janet (Hartley), Indianapolis, IN; David, Johnstown; John, married to Lisa (Ondrusko), Fairhope, AL; Maryem, wife of Robert Bahus, Seattle, WA; and William, married to Karen (Melikant), Johnstown; also survived by 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  A brother of Margaret Martin, Thomas married to Mary Kay (Morris), all of Johnstown; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Platt), Rosemarie  (Bodenschatz) and Pauline (Horvath) and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and neighbors enjoyed sharing drinks and conversation with Bob and Mary, on their front porch.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, stationed in the China-Burma India Theatre as an M.P.  He was a retired maintenance mechanic for Sani-Dairy, with over 30 years of employment.  Bob was that “someone to call”, when something needed to be fixed. He would always be there to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and playing golf.  A  Member of Resurrection Parish, where family and friends are asked to attend Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Matthew E. Misurda.  Committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery.  At Bob's  request, there will be no viewing or visitation.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chan Soon-Shiong Hospice Windber, PA, in memory of Robert G.
