BLASCHAK – Rose Alma, née Glacken – 97, died Friday, March 26, 2021 from natural causes. She was the wife of Daniel Blaschak who predeceased her. Rose was one of 8 children raised in Johnstown. She was married to Dan, a recipient of the Silver Star and Bronze Star in WWII, for 50 years. She was mother to Daniel (Joan) of Havertown, PA and Lee (Susan) of San Francisco. She has 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Morrellville. Rose was a true original-a real-life “Rosie the Riveter” working in the steel mills in Johnstown during WWII when all the men were at war. She said it was the most exciting job she ever had and was thrilled to make “that kind of money!” When the men returned she gladly gave up the hard work to work hard in her home. She made her own bread and sewed her own clothes! In lieu of flowers please make donations to either the Lutheran Home of Johnstown or St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, in memory of Rose. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Franciscan Friars O.F.M Conv. Committal to be held at Grandview Cemetery.
