Sandra L. Malek

MALEK - Sandra L., 67; Johnstown. Sandy passed away peacefully June 11, 2026 surrounded by her family at Montefiore Hospital, leaving behind a void in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to call her wife, mom, Gigi, sister, and friend. Born March 7, 1959 in Sharon, PA; daughter of John and Dolores (Jacobs) Bressler.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Edward Cross.  She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Michael “Mick”, beloved sons, Jonathan (Sarah) and Mark (Maria), and cherished grandchildren Sophia, Amelia, Theo. She is also survived by her treasured sister, Jayne Lawton (David), with whom she shared a lifelong and cherished bond, as well as her loving siblings, Tom Bressler (“Birdi”), Nancy Cross, Beverly Sed (David) along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly.  Sandy was a 1977 graduate of Hickory High school in Hermitage, PA. Sandy completed schooling to become an X-ray technician at Conemaugh Hospital. Sandy's strong work ethic was evident throughout her life. While raising her family, she worked full-time and was known for her dedication and reliability. For many years, she built a distinguished career at Hitachi Medical. She was also employed as a Pharmacy Technician at Giant Eagle. Sandy was respected by coworkers for her kindness and professionalism. Sandy loved her boys and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. Sandy’s greatest joy was her grandkids who loved to read books on her lap, play endless games of uno, and bake with Gigi in the kitchen. The pool was her sanctuary, and she made it everyone else's too. She had an extraordinary gift for hospitality. Her table was always set for more, something delicious was always cooking in the kitchen, and her door always open. Those who knew her will fondly remember that there was never an empty chip bowl or veggie tray at the Tiki Bar, a small but meaningful reflection of her generosity and love for bringing people together.  The beach called to her soul. Whether she was barefoot in the sand watching the horizon or simply breathing in the salt air, the shore was where she was most at peace and those who shared those moments with her will carry them forever.  She was member of the Trinity Lutheran Church on Ash Street. Friends received Friday, June 19, 2026 from 12 noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, the Rev. Toby Holland officiating.
