Sara I. Varner

VARNER - Sara I., 88; passed away January 5, 2021 at Cambria Care Center.  Born September 6, 1932 in Johnstown, daughter of Samuel E. and Margaret (Litzinger) Harvey.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, Robert Varner; sisters, Jane, Dorothy, Ann, Mary, Evelyn; brothers, Earl, Tom, Don, Robert, John and two infant brothers; sons-in-law, John “Jack” Stephens, George Flora and Ivan “Doc” Hullihen; daughter-in-law, Bettina (Strek) Varner; granddaughters, Rebecca Alberter, Sherry Stephens; and Amanda Kimmel; grandson, Josh Kimmel; and great great grandson Raiden Varner; .  Survived by children, Katherine Flora, Quarryville, PA; Robert Varner and wife Helen, Johnstown; Ernest Varner and wife Kim, Ebensburg; Patricia Alberter and wife Lisa, Texas; Sally Kimmel and husband Larry. Johnstown; Lester Varner and wife Jessica, Shermans Dale, PA; and Donna Flora, Quarryville, PA;  Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.  A sister of Lester “Butch” Harvey and wife Wanda, Duncannon, PA.  Retired from Laundry Department for Memorial Hospital and Laurel Crest.  Sara enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles, BINGO and loved reading her Bible.  She was so loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank Cambria Care Center, Third Floor nurses and staff for all their wonderful care.  Friends received Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.  Committal will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to A U.S. Veteran Group of your choice, in memory of Sara Varner.
