Sarah A. Mosorjak

MOSORJAK, Sarah A. (Markferding), 89, Johnstown went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2021.  Born December 7, 1931, daughter of Leo and Agnes (Rosage) Markferding.  Preceded in death by parents, husband Stephen, infant son John, son-in-law Richard Cartwright, sisters, Mary Grace Griffith, Ruth Heffley, Dorothy Murphy.  Survived by brother Bob Markferding and children, Mary Beth Cartwright, Carol Battaglia (Tony), Joyce Nesmith (Norm), Barb Flick(Ron), Suzanne Updyke (Jerry), Stephen Mosorjak (Carrie), all of Johnstown, and special niece, Shirley Confer, Harrisburg.  Beloved grandmother of 14 grandchildren, Ben, Anthony, Alison, Emily, Chris, Olivia, Angela, Maria, Melinda, Stephen, Jeremy, Katie, Tyler and Jon, and 9 great grandchildren.  She will be fondly remembered for helping her grandchildren prepare pierogies for the many holiday meals.  We all learned the true meaning of family love from her.  Sarah was a faithful volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul for over 20 years.  She was an active member of the church choir at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church where funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Msgr. Raymond Balta. Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Friends received Monday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where Parastas will be held at 8:00 p.m.  The family would like to acknowledge, with special thanks, Windber Hospice and the Allegheny Lutheran Home.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Sisters of St. Basil the Great, 500 W. Main St., PO Box 878, Uniontown, PA 15401-2602, in memory of Sarah.
