Sonja A. Girgos

GIRGOS - Sonja A., 65, Brandon, FL, passed away October 23, 2022 peacefully at home.  Born January 11, 1957 in Johnstown, to the late Joseph and Vida (Mastovich) Guydo. Survived by her loving husband John Girgos, daughter Kiersten (Derek), Brandon, FL; grandchildren Tyler, and Kylie; siblings Debra Work and her husband William, Rochester, NY; Joseph J. Guydo Jr. and his wife Patricia, Johnstown; and Chris Guydo and his wife Cindy, Somerset; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joanne and Larry Magro, Kennisaw, GA; Sonja is also survived by her nieces, and nephews Nathan, Lauren, Lynda, Elizabeth, Steven, Keith, Greg, Heather, Chelsea, Courtney, Michael and Kyle; great-nieces, and nephews, Eli, Marlee, Tabitha, Evan, Mason, Cassidy, Harper, Bodhi, Stella, and Cora.  Sonja was a loving wife, mother, and a special grandmother to Tyler, and Kylie.  A VERY SPECIAL THANKS to all of Sonja's friends from Johnstown, and those who moved away and always kept in contact to the end.  Sonja was 1974 graduate from Greater Johnstown High School, she worked in retail for a while, and then worked as a bank teller.  Sonja then went on to being a self employed domestic engineer so she could spend as much time as possible raising her daughter Kiersten.  She was happiest when she was with her grandchildren.  Sonja loved reading, gardening, and the Beatles.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sonja's memory to the Roxbury Bandshell, In care of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, 116 Market St. Johnstown, PA 15901 or St Therese Catholic Church (building fund), 536 Decker Ave, Johnstown, PA 15906.  There will be no viewing or services.  At Sonja's request there will be a "Celebration of Life" scheduled for a later date.
