Stephen J.M. Porada

PORADA – Stephen J.M., 95, Bethel Park, PA, formerly of Johnstown, died October 13, 2021, at St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born December 23, 1925, in Johnstown the son of Paul and Mary (Buza) Porada. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine (Cernak) Porada; sisters: Anna, Catherine, and Mary; and brothers: John, Michael, and Paul. Stephen is the last member of the Porada family.  He is survived by his children: Mary Jo, wife of William Witte, Columbia, MD; Elizabeth, wife of Dr. Charles Oschwald, Bethel Park, PA; John Joseph, married to Irene (McGowan) Porada, North Potomac, MD; grandchildren: Stephanie married to Jared Novak; Lauren married to Ian Lynch and John M. Witte and fiancée Jaclyn Kreft; and great-grandchildren: Lucas and Samuel Novak.  Steve was a US Navy veteran of WWII where he served in the south Pacific on the LSm431 and was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp.  He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David Peles officiating. Committal will be held at Ss Peter and Paul Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations for Masses can be made to the St. Vincent Archabbey, 300 Fraser Purchas Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
