SAKMAR – Stephen R., 94, of Johnstown, died July 19, 2021. Born November 6, 1926, in Johnstown the son of Ann and Stephen Sakmar. Preceded in death by parents; infant son, Tom Sakmar; and sister, Dorothy Ditko. Survived by his wife, Agnes Marie Sakmar; children: Phil, husband of Elizabeth Sakmar, Johnstown; Nancy, wife of Paul Turnley, Wexford, PA; Dave Sakmar, Johnstown; Jane, wife of Jim Spisak, Johnstown; Donna, wife of Foster Wallace, Fairbanks, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Josephine Demo. Stephen was a 1947 graduate of Veterans High School. In 1949 he married his lovely wife, Agnes Marie Topscher and they were married for 72 years. He was very active in the Pro Life Movement, was a proud 4th Degree member of 4604 Knights of Columbus, an avid gardener, and loved Notre Dame University. Stephen was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy who had a great love of God, family and country. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Committal will be held at St. Francis Church Cemetery. Donations can be made to either EWTN, Irondale, Alabama or Bishop McCort High School in memory of Mr. Sakmar.
