BRISKO - Sylvia Carol "Tootie"; 96, of the Atrium Manor, passed away on July 7, 2022 at Conemaugh Hospital. Born April 5, 1926 in Johnstown, daughter of Sava and Minnie (Varnish) Uzelac. Preceded in death by parents; husband, of 70 years, Michael J. Brisko Jr., whom she married on June 26, 1948; infant daughter, Carol Denise Brisko; daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Felosky) Brisko; siblings, Millie Romano, Irene Mesaros, Helen Malysko, Sally Sharpe, Donald Uzelac, Peter Uzelac and Richard Uzelac. Survived by children, Debbie Zapola (Ed); Michael Brisko (Lori Martin); and David Brisko (significant other, Michelle Paul). Also survived by grandchildren, Brian (Amy), Denise (David), Beth (Brittany), Zak, Jade, Nick, Lexi and Alex; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Kadence, Madison and Lily. A sister of Bernard Uzelac (Peggy), Stephen Uzelac (Judy), Natalie Ofsanko (John), Carol Nagy (Bill), Darlene Hobar (Nick), and Sam Uzelac; and in-laws, Bob Malysko, Joanne Uzelac, Jeff Arkrite. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was a kind loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was young at heart, simple and humble. Faith, family and friends were most important to her. She was a member of the Senior Citizen’s “Golden Strutters” Line Dancing Group. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Hallmark Movies. She also collected nut crackers and loved listening to the music of Frank Sinatra and the Bee Gees. An avid instant lottery “scratchers” player. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and playing BINGO. A member of Resurrection Catholic Church (formerly St. Stephen Church), where she was an Eucharist Minister and member of the Ladies Auxiliary; and where Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, the Rev. George M. Gulash. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where masks are suggested for services. The family would like to thank the staff and nursing at the Atrium Manor, Laurel View Village and at Conemaugh Hospital ICU Department.
