Obituary

VOYTEK – Theresa “Tessie,” 96, Westmont Borough, died peacefully March 23, 2023, at Conemaugh Hospital.  Daughter of Stephen and Julia Kiraly. Born September 10, 1926, in Johnstown, into a Hungarian family of nine children.  Her father passed away when she was only nine, leaving her mother to care and provide for nine young children in a small home during the Depression. Every Kiraly kid had to do their part to keep the family afloat and, to that end, Tessie had to quit school at a very young age and begin work in the Troy Laundry in Johnstown, where she worked for numerous years until her retirement.   She married Bernard Voytek in 1947 and they enjoyed 65 lovely years of marriage together. They were blessed with one beautiful daughter, Debbie. Tessie was a very hard worker, strong-minded, strong-bodied and fiercely independent.  Preceded in death by dear husband, Bernard, and beloved daughter, Deborah Riek, brothers and spouses Andrew (Margie), Steve (Peggy), Louis (Mary), Joseph (Ethel) and sisters and spouses Mary (John) Berzinsky, Betty (John) Huss,  Anna (Albert) Babick, and Clara (Steve) Szekely.  She is survived by her devoted son-in-law, Ronald, Annapolis, MD, granddaughter, Shannon, and her husband, Cmdr. Timothy Davis, and great-granddaughters, Madalynn and Katelynn Davis, San Diego, CA.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  She was extremely devoted to our Lord Jesus Christ and our Blessed Virgin Mary through her strong Catholic faith.  A past member of St. Therese Holy Name Society and Catholic Church. A faithful member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 31.  Committal at Grandview Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., Broad Street, where vigil for the deceased will be held Friday. Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Mother of Sorrow Catholic Church in memory of Theresa Voytek.  We love her and miss her.  May she rest in peace.
