PLUCHINSKY – Thomas, 97, of Johnstown, died December 30, 2022, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born September 6, 1925, in Johnstown the son of Michael and Agnes (Hayoskek) Pluchinsky. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane (Moncilovich) Pluchinsky; grandson, John A. Pluchinsky; brothers: Leo, Joseph, Michael and Frank Pluchinsky; and sister, Catherine Rybak. Survived by his children: Nadine Pluchinsky; Sharon K., married to Andrew Bellak; Cynthia J. Ianni; and David, married to Kathleen (Wollin) Pluchinsky; grandchildren: Jack J. Muzzie III; Amanda L. Lamotte; Thomas Cruz; T. Alec and Bryan Pluchinsky; and great-grandchildren: Jack IV; and Bonnie Jean. Tom was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the Pacific. After the war he joined the 82nd Airborne and retired from the 876th Engineer Battalion in Johnstown. He retired from Bethlehem Steel where he worked in the Gautier 8” Mill where he served as a union representative. Tom also served on the Board of Directors of the Gautier Credit Union for many years. He was an avid golfer, bowler and tennis player in the Roxbury Men’s league where he was very active. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Catholic Church 1621 Ferndale Avenue, Johnstown, Fr. Peter Crowe officiating. Committal will be held at St. Joseph Mausoleum with Military Honors by VFW Menoher Post 155 Ritual Team. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Pluchinsky.
