ZACK – Tony, 96, of Windber, died October 8, 2023, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born December 3, 1926, in Windber, the son of Gregario and Maria (Finale) Zaccagnini. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jane (Burkhart) Zack; brothers, Jim and John Zack; and sisters: Jean Damasiewicz, Erma Mincek and Nancy Gaio. Tony is survived by his daughter, Susan, married to Tim Layton, Windber; grandchildren: Stephanie Bracken (Nate Kaminsky), Pittsburgh. Jenna (Eric) Darr, Plum, and Jeremy Layton, Abilene, TX, and sister, Ida Zborovanick, Central City. Tony was a proud US Army Veteran of WWII serving in Japan. He retired from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he worked in the Physical Plant. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Windber, Windber VFW Post 4795, Windber American Legion Post 137, Windber Abruzzi, and was a founding member of the Argument Club. Tony was a faithful Windber Rambler football and basketball fan, rarely missing a home game. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Fr. George Gulash officiating. Committal will take place at St. Anthony Cemetery, Windber.
