Velma M. Harteis

HARTEIS - Velma M. (Petak), 95; Johnstown, passed away on February 3, 2022, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born November 15, 1926 in Johnstown.  She was the last surviving child of Louis and Filipina (Jurinic) Petak. Preceded in death by parents; infant sons, Bernard and Raymond; and loving husband of 74 years, Bernard R. Harteis; granddaughter Lissey Lovette; and brothers Victor, Joseph and Louis Petak.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Survived by children, Lorraine Law of Philadelphia; Sharon Lovette and David Harteis, both of Johnstown.  Also survived by grandchildren, Stacey, Bryan, Patrick, Timothy, Wesley and Gregory; loving great grandchildren; and  numerous loving nieces and nephews.  She was a partner with her husband, for 35 years, of “The Fish Boat” Seafood Market and Restaurant.  Velma was a formidable card player and enjoyed playing with family and friends, and she was formerly an avid BINGO Player.  A Member of Visitation BVM Church, where family and friends will be received on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m., the Rev. John Slovikovski.  Committal, Grandview Mausoleum. Arrangements by Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street.  She will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
