Verna Esposito

ESPOSITO  -  Verna P., 98; Johnstown.  With hearts full of love and a gentle peace, we announce the passing of Verna Esposito, who peacefully joined her beloved husband, Joseph Esposito.  Born March 13, 1926 in Johnstown, daughter of Stephen and Mary (Sabol) Varmecky.  She was preceded in death by parents, brother Stephen Jr., and husband Joseph A. Esposito.  She is survived by daughters Mary Jo Kulyk (Rodney) of Cary, NC; Debbie Icardi of Apex, NC; and Diane Shoup (Wayne) of Johnstown, PA.  She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jeremy Jaber (Christian), RJ Kulyk, Justin Kulyk, Erica Jaber Goff, Lauren Laukaitis (John), Garrett Shoup, and Kelly Laverty (Charles).  She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren, Quinn, Lena, and Cash Goff, Nicholas Bubernak and Maxwell Jaber, Brynn, Avery, Kendall, and Caleb Laverty, and Benjamin and Riley Laukaitis.  Verna worked as a floor manager at Bestform and later retired from the Johnstown Public Works Department.  She had been a long-time member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and volunteered at many church events.  Verna and Joe also spent their Saturday nights dancing with many of their neighbors.  She was an excellent seamstress, making many of her daughters’ clothing while they were in school.  Her faith was strong.  She was always the go-to person to pray for family and friends.  Her radiant spirit, known for its warmth, kindness, and endless supply of candy, will forever be cherished by her family and all who were fortunate to know her.  Those who knew her know she had an impeccable sense of fashion and to the last day, coordinated her jewelry with her outfit.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beautiful memories.  She is now reunited with the love of her life in the embrace of eternity.  Our family would like to thank the entire staff at Heritage Ridge Senior Life, for taking exemplary care of our Mom.  Friends will be received Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:30a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.  Committal will be held at St. Francis Cemetery.  Arrangements by Francis G.
