Vicki Huston Obituary

Vicki G. Huston, born July 10, 1951, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord in peace on December 30, 2024. Vicki was the loving wife of her husband, Michael, of fifty-one (51) years, who was with her at the very end. She was the proud mother of son, Brett, daughter-in-law, Sarah, and granddaughter, Sloane, who she loved more than anything in the world. In turn, her family is grateful and thankful that she was such a beautiful and loving force in their lives. She was their guiding light.

Vicki was the daughter of father, Dorsey (D.C.) Long, and mother, Ruth (Horner) Long. She was predeceased by best friend and sister, Tracy Diamond, and sister Caroline Long. Her family is happy that she will see them all again in heaven.

Vicki is survived by her other siblings whom she loved dearly, including: sister, Cindy Thiel (Long), married to James Thiel; brother Lance Long, married to Judy Long; brother Brian Long, married to Barbara Long; brother-in-law, David Diamond; and numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom she cherished with all of her heart.

Vicki was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School (‘69). She then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (‘72) with a bachelor’s degree in education. Following her graduation from college, she began a fantastic 33-year career as an elementary school teacher at Windber Elementary School. A fierce believer in education, she literally touched hundreds of students’ lives with her commitment to learning, while more importantly, teaching them to be good people.

Vicki was a devoted mother, who enjoyed attending her son’s sporting events. She was his biggest fan in both sports and life. More than anything else, Vicki adored simply spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sharing stories, traveling, the beach, reading books and magazines of all types, and her favorite hobby—shopping. Her family is blessed with all of the memories created with her, which they will never forget. Her love, laughter and kindness will live with them forever.

Friends will be received Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc.
