Violet "Vi" Sewak

SEWAK - Violet “Vi”, 88; beloved wife, mother and friend; Westmont, passed away on May 29, 2021 at The Villa Crest. Born October 13, 1932 in Montreal, QC Canada, daughter of Martin and Judith (Cupek) Vrtis.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, Dr. Michael Sewak; son, David D. Sewak; and brother, James M. Vrtis (Jackie).  Survived by loving children, Michael M. married to Robin (Farmery), Atlanta, GA; Denise D. married to Jeff Ginsburg, New Market, MD; Kathy K. married to Jody Venn, Newberry, FL; and Karen K. married to Dr. Greg Hutchens DDS, Stuart, VA.  Also survived by grandchildren, Michael R. Sewak, Olivia M.(Scott Olsen), Nicholas Sewak; Jason Ginsburg (Emily), Courtney N. Ginsburg, Kyle M. Ginsburg, Zachary I. Ginsburg (Beth); Hasha R. Venn; Martin T. Hutchens (Haley), Victoria A. Hutchens, Adrienne Hutchens; Aedan W. Sewak, Cassidy L. Sewak and Sage Sewak; and great grandchildren, Cora and Thea Ginsburg.  A graduate of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, School of Nursing in 1953. She was a retired Registered Nurse, working with her husband Dr. Michael Sewak. An active member of Cambria County Nursing Association, and Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Vi was known for her larger-than-life personality, exuberant love for always helping others and her desire to be “Florence Nightengale” to anyone feeling sick.  She had a generous heart for any in need and often did so in secret.  She was a devoted sports mom and biggest cheerleader to all of her kids and grandkids.  Friends are asked to attend funeral service Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, by Rev. Jason Ginsburg, Vi’s grandson. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in her memory.  Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com
