Vivian Mae Slachta

SLACHTA- Vivian Mae, 87; Johnstown, passed away on June 9, 2025 at Heritage Ridge Westmont.  Born October 8, 1937 in Johnstown, daughter of Robert and Philomena (Cowan) Merritts.  Preceded in death by parents; and her loving husband, Nicholas Slachta.  Survived by son, Nicholas M. married to the former Wendy J. Reininger, of Lebanon, PA; brother Robert Merritts and his wife Helene (Goggin) of Johnstown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Vivian was a substitute Secretarial Assistant for the Greater Johnstown School District.  A member of Christ the Saviour Cathedral, where she was a member of the Church Choir, ACRY and a Sunday School Teacher.  Friends received Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street where Panachida service will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Christ the Saviour Cathedral, the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak.  Committal will take place at Christ the Saviour Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the Saviour Cathedral in memory of Vivian Slachta.  Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com
