William P. Thomas

THOMAS – William P., 76, of Richland Township, died July 16, 2023, at his residence. Born June 25, 1947, in Johnstown the son of William P., Sr. and Catherine (Frear) Thomas. Preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Patricia Ann (Roesch) Thomas. Survived by his loving children: Christian, married to Julie Lohr, Amelia, OH; Eric, married to Monica Hamm, New Market, MD; and Kara, married to Matt Locraft, Bethesda, MD; grandchildren: Haley, Sarah Grammer, Joseph, Patrick, Andrew, Maria, Luke, Matthew, Frances, Mary, and William; great-granddaughter, Isla. He was the brother of: Charles A., Married to Jane Edwards; Kathleen, married to William Litzinger; and Elizabeth, married to Bruce Fleck. Bill was an active member of St. Benedict Catholic Church where he was a Catechist for 25 years. Bill was a proud US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the 101st Airborne. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his master’s degree at Loyola University. He retired from General Electric with 36 years of service and then taught philosophy at Penn Highlands Community College. Bill loved to read books and gave his time selflessly to fix anything that needed to be. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David Peles officiating. Committal will be held at Richland Cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Mehoher Post 155 Ritual Team.
