William E. Trotz

TROTZ- William “Bill” passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the age of 70. He was born on April 17, 1955, in Johnstown, PA, and preceded in death by mother, Genevieve Trotz; father, Leon Trotz; loving fiancé Tara Burkey; sister, Nancy Claar; brother, Thomas Trotz; sister-in-law, Debbie Trotz; and brother-in-law, Gary Schilling.

He was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his daughters, Abbi (Trotz) married to Kevin Schrock and Lauren (Trotz) married to Eric Tillman; grandson and best buddy, Ethan Tillman; and sweet granddaughter, Lydia Tillman. He is also survived by many brothers and sisters he loved deeply: Patty Schilling of Nanty Glo; Robert Trotz of Johnstown; Carol (George) Audey of Johnstown; Sharon (Rudy) Kusher of Boynton Beach, Florida; brother-in-law, Larry Claar of Windber; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill will be remembered by those who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on through his family, who he loved immensely. He loved spending time with his grandson Ethan, whether cheering from the sideline of one of his multiple sports games or simply watching a football game beside him on the couch. His granddaughter Lydia was the apple of his eye, his precious “sweet baby tiny baby” who he always gave too much candy and treats.

Bill made sure his daughters knew how proud he was of them. He never missed a birthday to sing ‘Sto Lat’ and pass on his Polish heritage, or the opportunity to always say yes to dessert (especially if it was a gob). We will always remember him from the smell of a cigar, a cold can of Diet Dr. Pepper, the thrill of a good scratch off lotto ticket, and how to always slow down when eating to fully enjoy it.

Bill is now happily reunited with his beloved Tara, who brought him great joy and was a constant source of love and companionship over many cherished years together.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Rev Francis P. Balestino. Committal will take place at a later date at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
